Testimonials

‘Kat recently ran an excellent workshop for The Literary Consultancy called ‘Write Without Fear’, for members of our Being a Writer online writing community. She was everything we look for in a workshop facilitator, enthusiastic, attentive, and professional - whilst also giving the cohort creative space and time to relax, as well as prompts to find the right words. She filled the session with a range of excellent exercises and encouraged some writing of real quality from the group. We would recommend Kat to anyone looking to inspire writers and creatives they work with.’
— Joe Sedgwick, Head of Writing Services, The Literary Consultancy
Kat really knows how to engage with a class even when separated by distance in Covid times. This was a master class in how to structure a variety of provocations with results in just an hour! Our Grade Five students were buzzing with ideas after their poetry sessions with Kat. Thank you!

I have rarely seen an artist as engaged, committed, and ‘in the moment’ as Kat Francois is when working with young people. The room was filled from start to finish with excitement and laughter. She gives her whole self to her workshops and it is an absolute joy to watch

The children and staff absolutely loved having her lead the workshops.
Some of the feedback were words like ‘fantastic’ ‘so funny’ ‘I love poetry’
— Oliver Knight, English & RE Leader | Assistant Headteacher St Mary's Bryanston Square School
... the children really enjoyed today’s workshop and benefitted greatly from the experiences that were shared. For many, their eyes were opened, and their understanding broadened by the presentation and discussions.
— Glenn Prior, Head of School, Ark John Archer Primary Academy
Thank you so much for the workshop yesterday. The Year 6 team were so positive about it and said that it was absolutely incredible
— Rebecca Miles, PHSE Lead, Fox Primary School
You were so warm and welcoming even though the session had to be held remotely and the opening task was so easy, I could feel my confidence grow, a little. The pace was just right, everything explained in simple terms and you were so funny, so enthusiastic and your love of writing really inspired me to keep going. Each exercise got easier and easier and I wanted to keep on writing – you had fired me up and I actually had the confidence to read out my piece, never thought I would.

I have been attending Kat’s workshops every week since the start of the year and can’t believe the variety and quantity of work I have produced. Kat is so imaginative, entertaining and committed to these workshops, and comes up with a range of exciting exercises every time. She draws fascinating results out of all who attend. Even though we have had to do all the workshops by zoom, they have been really fun and felt safe and intimate.
There are several dimensions to them which have kept me coming back for more every week: the sessions usually start with affirmative, introspective exercises that enable us to get into a positive frame of mind - I find these have a calming effect and help to take stock of the week and its emotions; next there are exercises which stimulate imagination and/or memories, this is where the real creative action happens, and I often produce items of work I’m really proud of; Kat is really funny and engaging, I always have a good laugh at some point in the session; Kat creates a comfortable safe space for us to read our work and I love to hear the varied work produced by others in response to the same brief. Kat puts out a huge amount of positive energy and a generosity of spirit which all attendees benefit from.

HTWTSA is warm, welcoming, therapeutic, funny and thought provoking!

It provides a safe creative space where the participants can choose whether or not to share their work-there is no pressure and the two hours always fly by.

Kat is an amazing teacher/facilitator. She is encouraging and shares her extensive knowledge to make us better writers.

Kat brings out the best in everyone.

I have learned how to be less secretive and sensitive about my writing.

I am learning to Edit, Edit, Edit and make every word count.

HTWTSA is the highlight of my week!
