WORD BECOME FLESH

WORD BECOME FLESH

The performance on Saturday night at Word Become Flesh was an experience I will never forget!
I could feel electricity building in my body over the last two weeks. The dress rehearsal went well, I hit all my markers and was able to pull off the tricks with the hoop I had been concerned about.
Later on during the performance I felt as if I was flying. I can’t explain it but words and body melded into one and new super powers were released.

This is just the beginning.
There is much more to come.
My mind and body are one again.

Thank you to everyone who came to support, It was deeply appreciated.
.
Special shout out to Jonzi D and Breakin Convention for your direction, support, belief and just the opportunity to try something new. It has been years since I have danced and moved in this way but it is just what my body has been waiting for!

Our Troubled Rivers

The River Poem

Humans come and humans go

but I pay no mind to the passage of time

as my watery form ebbs and flows

This is an ancient journey

with a jurassic legacy

oh the many tales I could tell

of the things I've seen.

But my secrets are mine to keep

embedded in twists and turns

swirls and surges

in the daily dance

of the high and low tide

from an embryonic Cotswold trickle

to the incessantly glorious tug

of the North Sea.

Humans come and humans go

but I pay no mind to the passage of time

For many, I am a playground

a place to frolic, swim, paddle or fish

and for others, I am nothing but

a liquid wasteland

Humans come and humans go

but I pay no mind to the passage of time

as my watery form ebbs and flows.

Raising Lazarus,

just published

The book of my play, Raising Lazarus, has just been published by TSL Publications and is currently on sale. This book is in theatre format, reflecting the play as on stage, charting my journey in discovering my relative who fought in World War One, and telling the story of Caribbean soldiers who took part in the war.

Published - Hidden Realms

Last year I won a short story competition in conjunction with Conscious Dreams Publishing & Flame Tree Press… and it’s now published and available internationally.

The book is absolutely beautifully presented and there are sooooo many wonderful stories within.

spoken word at the V&A

Really enjoyed performing at the V&A along with friends and writers, Yomi Sode, Be Manzini and Inua Ellams. Our poems were linked to themes within the African Fashion Exhibition which is still on, and well worth a visit.
